About Us
The Mothers of South Snohomish was founded in 2007 as a social club for
mothers in South Snohomish County of western Washington state, to come
together to network, gain new friendships, and learn and support one
another through the trials and tribulations of parenting. To
achieve this goal, we have a variety of activities and groups that
support our members both as mothers and as women. Children are
always welcome at any activity including general meetings, although are
discouraged from Mom's Night
Out events.
General Meetings
We meet the first Tuesday of each month in
the Silver Lake area of Everett. Detailed meeting information will
be given to prospective members who contact us at
mothersofsouthsnohomish@yahoo.com. Meetings are
one hour in
length and may involve guest speakers on topics of interest, general
getting-to-know-each-other time, or service projects for our charity of
focus. Children other than breastfeeding babies are encouraged to
play in the kid room, supervised by the room mothers. We
request all members volunteer as a room mother and to set up and
clean up at a general meeting at least once per year.
Playgroups
Playgroups are a set group of moms who meet
weekly or on a schedule determined cooperatively by the moms in the group.
Playgroups assignment are typically based on your child(ren)'s age, but
may also be based on location and your availability.
Monthly Mom/Child Activities
Our monthly calendar is filled with
activities during which our members can have their children learn, play
and socialize, as well as socialize themselves. Because member
involvement is important in our club, all members are welcomed to write
in activities for the upcoming calendar month during the general
meeting or email them in advance to the Activities Coordinator.
*Some activities may take place
on the weekend. All family members are welcome to participate
or it can just be another mom and child/children activity.
Mom's need to be present for dads or other family members to
participate.
Evening Time Activities for Moms
Moms need time away also to renew
themselves as women and just to get to know each other without
negotiating between the noises presented by our adorable children.
Mom's Night Out is a chance for our members to gather in a variety of
venues just for that purpose. Past MNOs, have included dinners at
local restaurants, theme parties at members homes (fondue night, '80s
party, luau), and chocolate making. In addition we also have a
book club, craft night and our Sweet and Sour club.
Take a Break
Whether it's a new baby, ill family member, or other circumstances,
Take a Break is designed for members to support one another through
services such as providing meals, helping with grocery shopping, or
other general errands. Members are expected to volunteer for this
at least once per year.
Babysitting Co-op
Members of the co-op trade co-op
dollars for babysitting hours. When a mom joins the co-op she
is given a set number of dollars. Moms must sit another
member's child(ren) to receive additional dollars.
